Changelog
Latest: 1.4.6
1.4.6
- File Types in Preferences now shows the real operating-system default for each type, with a one-step make-default button and a first-launch prompt.
- The Windows installer registers every file type automatically, and no longer needs an elevated launch at the end.
- Deleting a node reconnects the cables around it. Shift+Delete removes it without reconnecting.
- GIF nodes honour frame timing, loop count and playback speed, GIF edits can be undone, and loading a GIF no longer freezes the window.
- Visual nodes no longer jump after a move or resize, and sticky notes got a review pass.
- Waveform view has refined colour palettes, a new “Batchy” colour mode and better frequency colouring.
- Tilt EQ and Filter settings show a live spectrum behind the curve. The band splitter sends each band to its own cable.
- EQ match, normalization and speed settings on the Input node now apply live during playback.
- The 7-day trial expiry warning appears only in the final 24 hours.
- Plugin nodes use the same bright category colours as built-in nodes, and the channel routing editors have studio-style controls.
1.4.5
- Batch outputs are organised into searchable settings tables, and you can summarise and edit all outputs from the source rows.
- Dragging a node onto an existing cable splices it in (a normal drag, no Shift needed), and now heals fan-in connections instead of refusing.
- The graph shows bypass state, has a polished node palette drawer, and uses clearer colours for inactive graphs and view tabs.
- Refreshed settings for Panner, Dynamics, Pitch Shift and Gain (with RMS metering), plus Batchy colours on mixer mute and solo buttons.
- Waveform layout, controls and palette dropdown were refined.
1.4.4
- You can splice an already-connected node into a cable, and the cable picker now offers existing graph nodes.
- Quick Render and Quick Render As: fixed three data-safety defects.
- Fixed bypass being latched into nodes after the graph was rebuilt for a node insertion.
- Waveform view turns on loop mode automatically when you draw a loop region (not for a region that is too short).
- Windows: repaired file associations that pointed at a stale Batchy.exe.
- UI text was re-gridded for the Departure Mono pixel font, and the menu bar now uses the standard text size.
1.4.3
- 7-day trials are back. An email address is required, and Manage License offers the trial when you are eligible.
- The Windows installer and Preferences let you register Batchy per file type, and set it as the default app for audio files and presets.
- Presets can be organised across several source directories. Renaming a preset now sticks after a rescan, and the preset bar no longer offers deletion.
- A single pixel typeface is now used throughout the app.
- Restyled license and trial setup, EQ (with distinct band colours), Filter, reverb, preset manager and asset cards.
- Input and output nodes have distinct signal headers, and the wet/dry mix stays usable at low node zoom levels.
- Fixed a deadlock when rendering in parallel from the command line with a VST3 plugin loaded.
- Command-line batch cancellation no longer freezes, and a graceful taskkill no longer breaks the headless renderer on Windows.
- Windows: render output directories that are links are now checked at their real target.
- Fixed unreadable iXML text in some library files.
1.4.2
- Files opened from the operating system now go to the running Batchy window instead of starting a second copy.
- Playback keeps its position when you swap processed mode mid-play.
- The speed slider is disabled and shows 1.0x while the processed audition is baked.
- Fixed factory presets that showed up in the catalog after their file was gone.
- Fixed a hang when offline render copies were prepared.
1.4.1
Presets
- New OGG Game Preview preset (the first lossy one) and a Batch Gain Trim -6 dB preset (32-bit float, reversible).
- Streaming Loudness -14 and Apple Music -16 are merged into a single Streaming Pair preset.
- Factory presets are grouped and expandable in a stable chooser.
Plugins
- Plugin Search Paths are reachable from the UI, and the default scan paths were extended.
- VST3 plugins no longer slow down every graph edit.
Interface
- The playback speed control moved to the shared transport bar, and transport option menus open on hover.
- Node editors are exposed to screen readers, and Return opens the selected node.
- Refreshed mixer controls, Input and Output node settings, and asset-list drop area.
Fixes
- Fixed a crash caused by references to deleted nodes.
- Fixed gain and latency for multichannel graphs, and the output width of version 1 Panners.
- A .batchyfx file given on the command line now opens in the app instead of exiting with an error.
1.4.0
Audio
- MP3 decoding no longer depends on operating system components, and MP3s that cannot be decoded correctly are refused instead of played wrong.
- The macOS build is universal, with a universal MP3 encoder.
- Algorithmic reverb: the four algorithms are level-matched, each has its own character, the Plate minimum decay is shown, and tail length is chosen automatically. The editor got an accessibility and contrast pass.
- Convolution reverb renders multi-channel surround impulse responses, including 4-channel true stereo, and gain changes are smoother.
Rendering and plugins
- Offline renders now fail with a clear error if an external plugin changes mid-render, instead of silently producing dry audio.
- Fixed the Band Splitter setting the wrong render width.
- Plugin scanning quarantines plugins that fail, shows them in the app, adds a Trust This Version button, and the command line gained a bulk --scan-plugins verb.
- Fixed a freeze when an external plugin finished loading.
Presets and app
- Factory presets were reviewed: one removed, six renamed to describe themselves accurately, and Default is listed under Factory.
- --load-preset no longer silently does nothing.
- Windows: preset writes handle long paths safely, and the app icon was refined. macOS: full-bleed app icon.
- The macro strip and batch macro panel were removed from the interface, and the classic render progress overlay is back for processed mode.
